We purchased this unit for our daughter's NYC apartment which has very high ceilings. Although her bedroom is small (holds a full size bed), it opens to a larger living area. The unit was installed in her bedroom so that she has the option of leaving her door open to cool the living area during the day or closing her door at night so she can sleep. Excess noise from this unit was not an issue. We are very happy with this purchase. Never heard of this company until we kept researching other purchasers' reviews and also air conditioning websites. The price we paid for this amount of BTU power was less than or comparable to other better known companies. The single hose was easy to install with the materials provided. We would recommend this to a friend.

Fantastic air conditioner! from Milwaukee, WI on 08/10/2015 – Verified Buyer
this is the second unit we have ordered and we love it. The first one was given to our granddaughter and it cools her whole home. It is nice to be able to move it from the upstairs to the downstairs without any poblems. It is rather large but that was not a problem for us. Pros: great value for the money cools the whole house Cons: it may be too heavy for an older person to move from upstairs to downstairs but is easy to move from room to room

second one is working great from Pittsburgh, PA on 07/12/2014 – Verified Buyer
Ordered this after comparing several units for cost/efficiency/noise level. This one seemed like the best choice, and was eco friendly to boot. It arrived quickly and set up easily but just was not cooling the space. Contacted Wayfair, and Whynter and figured out I had likely received a unit with a bad compressor. Received a replacement unit within days with minimal hassle and it is working beautifully.

Very nice. from Seattle, WA on 09/16/2014 – Verified Buyer
This works very well, keeps me cool in my studio apartment which has no central air. Love the feature of the auto shut off of the cooling, with the fan still on so the air continues to move.

Works Great. from Gig Harbor, WA on 09/29/2014 – Verified Buyer
My family got together and purchased this as a gift for my Dad. The first time he used it, he was so happy that he called all of us to tell us how great it is.

Questions & Answers

"Does this unit need to be vented?" — Tom
"Hi Tom, yes, the portable air conditioner does need to be vented. All portable air conditioners need to vent the hot air they remove from the room. These units commonly come with hoses to vent the exhaust and window filler kits to allow you to properly vent out of most windows. However, you do not need to vent the hot air out a window. The window venting kits also fit most sliding glass doors, or you may make a custom modification and vent the exhaust through a wall or into a drop ceiling. For these applications, you may have to extend the vent hose."
