Great strong desk once it's put together.
HILLARY from BROOKLYN, NY – Verified Buyer
This desk once it's put together is sturdy and worth every dime I spent because I got it at a great price. The thing is that until you do get it together you are frustrated. The hardest part, which is the part with the drawers, is the first section that you put together. The drawers aren't the problem. It's the first section that they tell you to work on. As always the first of anything on a project like this is the learning curve. The learning curve on this is a big one because it also includes getting the guides for the drawers installed on the correct sides in the correct direction. I had to watch the recomended videos on Youtube otherwise it would have taken me 2 more hours. I used a drill on certain things to tighten screws but it's a dangerous road because it's easy to strip the screws they give you. I know how to use a drill properly but the screws aren't made of good strong material. I stripped one and the hole of the board it was going into became too large, but even though it was for a back panel that back panel was secured by other pieces and in other ways in addition to the screw I ended up stripping. That is a testament to the quality of the desk in general. If you can't manage all the turns of these screws with a regular screw driver I'd recommend a ratchet instead of a screw gun. Oh and one more thing. There are a few places where dowls are necessary. It doesn't seem like the manufacturer made sufficient holes for the dowls to connect into but infact if you just poke through the space where the dowel is supposed to fit into you will find that it fits perfectly fine. That was another big learning curve for me. When I finally got the thing together I couldn't have been more pleased. Of course first that I completed it and now weeks later with the fact that it really is a nice good sturdy desk. Even the keyboard tray seems to be strong. So that's my story. Good luck with yours. The desk is nice looking and made of decent material. It looks and feels like real wood all around. The only downside in the end is that there isn't a file cabinet drawer. That I had to get seperately.
Very difficult to put together but excellent, roomy, super sturdy desk when done

The only real bad thing about this desk is the instructions are a bit arcane (there were two sets of different screws with the same label and no way to distinguish between them) but after the 4+ hours it took to put the thing together (drill is a must, as is a longer screwdriver than the one included) the desk is really exceptional: It ends up having 4 de facto shelves plus the printer/scanner mount (perfect for power cable strips, WiFi routers, peripherals). Had no problems with keyboard slider. If you have a large computer tower you can omit the shelf on the right side for extra height. Really impressed at the quality for the price.
Great desk but small keyboard tray
Steven from Gloucester, VA – Verified Buyer
I am extremely pleased with this desk. It is black like I was hoping not espresso like the description says. I am not sure why the other reviews say this desk is hard to put together. With a drill gun I was able to assemble this desk alone in an hour and 15 min. It is an extremely sturdy desk and a surprising deal for the price. The only complaint I have about this desk is the keyboard tray. The one that comes with the desk is too small for my gaming keyboard and mouse. All I had to do to solve the problem was go to office max and get a $30 aftermarket keyboard tray but that does add to the costs and hassle some. Even with the extra tray the deal cannot be beat and I looked at other desks for almost 2 weeks before picking this one.
Beautiful product !!!!!!

It might be a little complicated for the for someone that is not a hands on person. For me it was quite simple, I have put many items together like this , so I am used to not so easy instructions. But if you take your time you should have no problem. All the parts are marked with a little sticker and the screws and bolts and hardware are all separated and in labeled bags. Very well made and looks great!! . The chair opening is 21" wide, 25 1/2 " H, and about 19" deep. The top is 47 1/4 across and 21 1/2 deep. This is perfect if you have a small area and you don't use a computer chair with arms. All In All I would recommend this desk.
ARCHITECT LOOKS AT ASSEMBLY
John from Mesa, AZ – Verified Buyer
THE FINISH PRODUCT AFTER ASSEMBLY WORKS WONDERFUL AND LOOKS THE SAME BUT THE DIRECTIONS LEAVE A LOT TO BE DESIRED. I AM AN ARCHITECT AND CONTRACTOR WITH 40 YEARS EXPERIENCE SO I SHOULD BE ABLE TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BUT THESE WERE VERY HARD TO DECIPHER, ESPECIALLY THE SCREW DESCRIPTION. TOOK 3.5 HOURS TO ASSEMBLE DUE TO ME PUTTING THE WRONG SCREWS IN THE WRONG PLACE. BUT AFTER IT IS ASSEMBLED IT WORKS JUST GREAT. VERY HAPPY WITH THE PURCHASE.

What a great product! After the last desk we received, which was a nightmare to assemble, we were just a bit leary to have another go at it. This desk was delivery just a few days after we ordered it. The cartons were intact and all the pieces were labeled. All the hardware was marked and correctly counted and bagged. All the parts fit together and we are thoroughly satisfied with the outcome. Wayfair has redemmed themselves, so anyone who is considering a small home or college desk should be as happy with it as we are.

Assembled this desk yesterday, definitely a 2 person (adults) job and one that needs a power screw driver. My 9 yr old Son helped me, we were both tired by the end of it. Lot folks talk about the assembly being difficult etc, I think it was not difficult but cumbersome / tedious. One of the steps was wrong, I would install part 20 (base) before part 19 (back shelf). Basically start with laying out all the parts and screws and go from there. The manual is not good but you get the hang of it. Good thing is it has some assemble videos for a some steps. That definitely helped a lot. Keyboard is not that wide, the printer stand is a joke (too small). Overall good desk with good finish for the price I paid. While browsing on Wayfair.com, the price suddenly dropped by $20 so I just went ahead and ordered it.
Took time to assemble but went together well.

My retired shop teacher husband had fun putting this together. As mentioned about the file cabinet it was helpful he had the tools necessary for assembly. The included screwdriver was inadequate for assembly. Looks good, made well and solved a problem of too big a hutch which was so 70's.

I love my computer desk. It is not cheap looking. It goes well with the decor in my apartment. It fits perfectly in the space that I selected. I have no problem with the computer desk. Only the way it was delivered to me. I was not home when it was delivered so whoever delivered it just left it leaning against the apartment building where I live. If it was left inside the building then I would have felt better. So now I do not feel comfortable ordering from Wayfair. I do not want a package that I have paid for just left sitting out in the open.i think that is a bad policy for the company to adopt. That was my first purchase and my last.
Very nice desk, but takes time to assemble
David from 70002
I gave it a 3 because it took about 4-5 hours (one person) to assemble. The scanner slide is 18 in depth, not the 22 inches stated in the Q&A. I contact Wayfarer to verify the depth, they told me it is 22 not true! Consequently the scanner sticks out 2 inches. In most steps the instructions calls for one size mounting screws except for steps 8 and nine they call for 2 different sizes keep this in mind, I didn't, so I had to redo the step. The holes to mount the vertical tubes supports in step 21 do not match, you have to carefully force it to tube to into place in order to mount the table top. The sliders for the drawers and the scanner slide are a bit confusing, You don't which end is towards the front or rear. The slide brackets should have been mounted by the manufacture. Over all its a very nice desk and very sturdy! I like it!
