reasonable for the price, and equal quality

The directions for the bookcase weren't very clear, so my brother (who built it) had to improvise. It worked out well however, and was pretty easy to get finished once he started. It just took some planning and manipulation of the parts, since there were no clear cut directions. The directions also mentioned black stickers to cover up the nails that were used, however we did not see this in the box. Although a bit irritating, it's fine since the nails are a darker shade and match the wood, so no one can really see them unless then are looking closely. Overall, it's a good piece and serves our purpose. So far the shelves are sturdy, and are holding up against the massive amounts of books we placed on it. The price we paid for it is comparable to the quality, which is good.

These bookcases arrived on time and in good condition. They were packed very well by the manufacturer, and were not too difficult to put together. They are nice and sleek, simple and modern looking. However, they are very wobbly. Small brackets with hardware are included, and it is recommended that the bookcases be attached to the wall at the top shelf. Unfortunately, because we have baseboard molding, the bracket is not long enough, so I must replace them with something larger. I also did not receive enough pins to hold the shelves. That means I have to make another trip to the hardware store. I would have given these bookshelves three stars, but they will serve my purpose, and were inexpensive.
Nightmare to build, very flimsy.

Ive bought a number of Sauder pieces over the years. Bought two of these in different colors for a friends apartment. Never had the kind of problems I experienced with these with the higher end Sauder shelves, but these were horrible. Directions were vague. None of the holes for the heavy screws were pre-drilled. NONE. They give you a bunch of flat bottomed screws, and ONE sharp one. You are supposed to use the sharp screw to pre-drill all the holes in the fiber board for the blunt screws to go into. Nowhere in the directions do they mention this. This is supposed to go together with a Phillips screwdriver. HAH. If we didnt have the power drill, my hands would have died. The top and bottom sections are held together with two small dowels and two cam locks. Very flimsy. The directions even say not to stand the thing up until you put the backing on or it may COLLAPSE. My opinion Spend the money and buy Sauders better quality shelves. They are beautiful and much sturdier.
Great little bookcase

I've had this bookcase for a few weeks now and it's performing its job admirably. I docked a star because the top shelf is missing the laminate finish (how cheap can they get?) and because the bookcase has a little shakiness to it. Definitely would not want to load this thing up with heavy books. However, it suits my needs just fine and for the wallet friendly price, it's totally worth it.
Exactly what I was looking for

The bookcase was easy to assemble and the adjustable shelves were exactly what I was looking for. The only thing that bothered me is that since the backing pieces were folded for boxing they do not lay flat and you can very clearly see the creases. It's not a major issue for me, just something to think about if you are going to be using this bookcase for displaying anything that may show a great deal of the backing board.

I am very happy with this Bookcase in concern of its quality. However, I had sort a difficult time to as assemble until I figure out which part of bookcase belongs to each other. Otherwise, a quality of bookcase is really good!
What I expected

I actually wanted some high quality and beautiful bookcases but didn't want tot flip the bill at this time. These will do in the meanwhile. Nothing special just regular run of the mill bookcases. Did come with a few scuffs where the color came off.
great for not-so-heavy items

it looks great! if you follow the weight limit for each shelf -- yes, each shelf has a different weight limit -- you'll keep this bookcase for a very long time. it's not pricey, yet looks expensive and it's so easy to install and most of the shelves are repositionable too. and you can just slide it (on carpet) even with contents on it.
serves its purpose

Kind of cheap-looking. It's quite obvious that the back of the shelf was previously folded cardboard...it never really looks flat as though it's one solid piece.

It's not a bad shelf, just not as sturdy and made as well as in the past. It will suit our needs, but once again, it's an example of, you get what you pay for.
