SPT Hot Water Pot with Multi-Temp Function

It's very good hot pot!!!!

Since there are only two of us who live in the house we use this Hot Water Pot when we have a party of 8 to 30 people. Many are hot tea or instant coffee lovers. So we are 'saved' from running back and forth from Dining to kitchen and boil and re-boil many times the regular 1.7 liter electric kettle. No 'waiting list' among the guests anymore! It has safety electronic button to activate the electronic pump button. Saves many unattended kids from burning their hands. The 'lazy susan' on the bottom serves guests around the table. And we are talking 25 cups! All is needed an extension cord if you are willing your guests to self-service and grant yourself with more personal time interacting with people. The closest competition from Japan and Korea will cost you 2.5-3 times for the same capacity and features. People, who got this gift from me, continue to thank me for the past several years. Sometimes, we are asked to bring it to other people's parties although all of our friends could afford many luxuries. They just did not know about such convenient Hot Water Pots.

I was disappointed that upon first use, this new pot ran hotter than my previous one, a SPT-4000, which burnt its temp control after 2-years of service. Since it ran hotter, I did not expected it to last longer than the 4000. More importantly, it consumes too much power; standby power was 80W, I found later. Returned it, paid both shippings, bought a [$] Tatung 3-liter as replacement. The decision was based upon two reviewers'comments that it has good insulation. Boy, I was not disappointed. The standby power is 23W, which is only 2W higher than a[$]Japanese brand that uses vacuum insulation. I saved 44% in upfront cost and 68% in recurring electricity cost.

When unplugging the pot be careful not to empty the remaining water while the water is still very hot.

I love these appliances, and was sad when my old one I bought in Japan broke (most likely from voltage differences). My new water pot is even better than the last one, with a higher capacity and temperature settings that are very convenient and easy to use.

I purchased this Hot Water Pot for use in our shop during an open house so that we would have a constant supply of hot water to make tea and hot chocolate. The directions indicate it will boil the 5L in 20 minutes, but it actually took about 35 minutes to complete the cycle. A smaller quantity will boil much quicker. We found that the lower temp setting is perfect for our needs. It does an excellent job of maintaining the temp. We have been using it daily ever since just because it is more convenient than heating a cup at a time in the microwave and it comes out a the perfect temperature.
