Looks good but impossible to adjust

Ok, so this item looks great, with the stainless steel and glass ... but, there are 2 big problems with it. First, there's an aluminum decorative plate that comes with it that doesn't even fit properly. Now, it could have been a one-off glitch, but I ended up trying to hammer the plate into place, and then finally gave up and just used it without the plate (it still works fine without it). Secondly, although this is supposed to be an adjustable stand, apparently the manufacturer doesn't know the difference between what would be good for a height adjustable chair and a height adjustable stand. The height adjusting mechanism on this stand is impossible to adjust down, unless you essentially sit on it like you would a chair. You have to put a fair amount of weight on it in order for it to go down at all, otherwise, it just pops right up to the top. I basically adjusted it a few times and now just leave it at a single height since it's so hard to re-adjust. Now that it's set, I still use this thing as it's convenient and nice to look at, but the manufacturer should do some research into usability and do some QA to make sure all the parts fit together.
