Leuchtturm1917 Classic Medium Hardcover Notebook in Black

If you're looking for a replacement to Moleskine journals, this is it! The paper quality is the most noticeable with very little bleed using various ink pens and pencils. And at a comparable price.

The journal is the perfect size for my type of notes that have both writing and graphs. The only down side is that the outside cover isn't as soft as say a Moleskine.

Ever since Moleskine decided to darken the lines of its squared collection for the visually impaired, which became too dark to make your writing legible, I was hoping/praying the Leuchtturm1917 squared would replace it... unfortunately it doesn't live it. it smudges. Say goodbye to your ballpoint pens, your Pilot G2 or anything equivalent... the only pen that managed to work with the paper were Pigma Micron Pens... However, even that doesn't dry quickly. You have to wait a minute before turning the page. For Pilot G2's, you'll need a blow-dryer!

The other day I was looking for a journal at my favorite bookstore and fell into conversation with a fellow journal-lover. I asked her if she knew of a normal sized journal that had a pocket for stashing random papers. She told me that she had one with a German name that was simply amazing. She couldn't remember the brand but knew where she had bought it. I went there and immediately found it. It had all the qualities I was looking for in an all-purpose journal and I was ecstatic to realize that although it has a hard-cover it can easily be inverted for compact writing! I love to turn my journal "inside-out" when I write so this thrilled me. I can't think of anything I would add or subtract from this product and plan on buying another just like it when I've used it up.
