I researched different website before buying with Wayfair. Other websites clearly identified the wood as birch. I wanted something more durable so went with the adverised "oak" with Wayfair. Upon receiving it, the back was completely off. All staples had pulled through "the wood" panel. I reglued and restapled. 2 screws were in the bottom of the box, came out during transit, and two were missing. Replaced the 4 screws. The "oak" wood applies to drawer fronts and top. Remainder of wood of unknown origin. I ordered the cherry finish which is burgandy, not cherry. To tone down the red, I added two coats of walnut stain/poly coat. So if you want to nearly redo this cabinet as I have then order from Wayfair, if not find another vendor. I wish I had. I gave two stars because it held all my CD, DVDs. It does that nicely.

I have waited since about Dec. 2014 to get this out of stock item, in fact 2 of them. I am a PostMark collector and need this for storing my many years worth , like 41 years worth,, of many many postmarks. I was so thrilled to finnaly obtain this as I have been on a list waiting. When they arrived they were beautiful, but the back sides weren't!! One back was totally off and the other was half off and had a big crack running side to side, all jagged. My husband is handy, but there was no way because of the very narrow backside to put these very small nails in it. So he used masking tape and taped it on all 3 sides. That part is ugly, but no one sees that.. There needs to be a change in the way they are put together and someone on this end of the line before shipping needs to check each one out and repair it before we see it!! Others have said the same thing as I read all ot the reviews. Wood is beautiful, the oak I got. Pros: Great that they were all put together already and we didn't need to do that part as we, mainly my husband has put lots of things together. Cons: the poor construction of the backsides and no quality control
Exactly what we wanted

This chest is exactly what we were hoping it would be for function, size, weight, and sale price . We needed a replacement for a bulky storage piece in our den. We are downsizing the clutter and this fits a hall wall near 3 doorways and stores our DVDs and CDs. We have had no problems with construction as some of the other reviews state and all of the drawers have stops except for the bottom row. That is a plus because you can remove the drawers on that row to check contents. We are extremely pleased with the oak chest: the color is a golden oak, the measurements stated are exact, and everyone who has seen it wants to know where in the world we found it!
Library drawers for media items, cool.
Sherry from OK – Verified Buyer
These are cute as can be. I ordered two to sit side by side in a hallway. Dvd's and cd's fit perfectly. It arrived assembled, praise Jesus. One chest had a split near the front corner. I simply used wood glue and it mended very well. I plan to paint them so they look like something stored in a barn from the old library. They are exactly what I needed. I'm very pleased I invested in them. They are cute, cute. And function beautifully.
Library Style 24 drawer multimedia cabinet
Julianne Carlton from Elbridge NY
This is a lovely, functional piece of furniture. Overall, I am very satisfied. However, I did need to use wood glue on the bottom of one of the drawers that had detached the staples that attach the bottom are very small and do not hold up to the weight of the cds. I would also suggest that notice come with the packaging to look for the tab inserts that are taped to the styrofoam packaging. The inserts are easy to miss and I did not see them when I previously purchased this same cabinet.
Very Unique but Poor Quality
Nichole from Smithfield, NC – Verified Buyer
The quality of this cabinet is fairly poor. It arrived with the plywood back falling off and several detached drawer bottoms. The wood on the bottom of the drawers is very thin and the drawer stops are nothing more than a small dowel which falls out quite easily. That said.... the piece is beautiful! I love how it looks and I get many compliments on it. I typically feel that form follows functions but not this time! I made the repairs I needed and I'm sure I will have to repair it many more times but it so unique I think it's worth it.
Not what I was hoping...
Angela from Sugar Land, TX – Verified Buyer
When our piece arrived, the box had two "punches" in the back and the corners were terribly battered. When we opened the box, the thin, plywood back was punched through in one spot and ripped completely free of the staples across the top and halfway down the sides. There was a chunk of wood missing on one seam and the front of the heavy wood top was cracked about 1.5" across. Don't know whether to blame the carrier (who left it on the doorstep) or Wayfair, but it's by far the worst package delivery we've received - and we order online a lot. Also, although I knew the price was a "bargain", the quality of the wood and construction were a disappointment. I bought the same cabinet for my daughter and son-in-law from Target about 3 years ago and loved its quality. By comparison, this cabinet had drawers that were uneven, bottoms of drawers loose and pulling free of their staples, and overall shoddy materials and construction. Not the bargain or the piece I was hoping for.

I own four of these units, and I use them for craft item storage in my sitting room. They look like fine furniture and people assume they are vintage apothecary or library units. I have them in the cherry color and they are gorgeous. They arrive fully assembled so all you have to do is slide them out of the box. I was looking for more and was THRILLED to find them on Wayfair, as the other four I purchased were a full third more expensive. I'm very pleased with the quality of Leslie Dame "media" units. I now own FIFTEEN of their drawers and shelves for my livingroom, bedroom, and retail shop, and I have not used them for their stated purpose yet. Great quality, and now on Wayfair, a great price!

All details are done so well...hardware,drawers, etc...Back unfortunately made of crumbling cardboard...had to be replaced
Very functional accent piece
Kathryn from Seattle, WA – Verified Buyer
I love the possibilities hidden in these 24 drawers. The piece even smells like it belongs in a library. The construction is as expected for the price. I am satisfied with the piece, but there are some cracks in the main backing and in the backs of some of the drawers; some of the staples holding the backing in place pulled through so it is not as securely attached as it could be. I thought the packaging during for shipping was very good. I did not receive the label cards, so finding what I'm looking for is a bit like playing a game of memory.
