Not crazy about this chair
Michele from Oakton, VA– Verified Buyer– Top 1000 Reviewer
I was very excited to get this chair, but I almost sent it back. The back is shorter than it appears and it is not easy to get it comfortable. There was an "option" for the chair that I did not see which is some kind of back adjustment. I would recommend getting that because I feel like the chair is tilting straight up and down. The arms of the chair are a hard molded material that is not uncomfortable. There are many other chairs out there that work better and cost less.
Very comfortable chair

The chair is is well-made, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. It was easy to assemble, piece of cake! I bought this chair because of its modern design and the reputation of Herman Miller. In addition, it is made mostly of recyclable materials! The SAYL chair has met our expectations. I would recommend it to everyone who needs reliable ergonomic desk or computer chair.

Gorgeous addition to my home office- definitely adds a level of sophistication without being too-corporate looking. I got the greengreen combo and really stands out.

This chair is made of hard plastic except for the seat. It looks as shown but for the price I would have expected something of higher quality. The back support is good and the chair feels comfortable but I don't think it's worth the price. Doubt it will last 10 years as the warranty states.

Herman Miller - Always Worth the Investment
John Mastri from Santa Ana, CA– Verified Buyer
Four years ago I purchased two Embody chairs by Herman Miller (HM). Friends and family winced when I told them how much they were, thought as soon as they sat in them, they understood why they cost a small fortune each. That being said, our office expanded this year and we needed more chairs, and we needed them quickly. I didn't give really any thought to getting a non-HM built chair. The SAYL chair, for the money, feels amazing. Comfort and quality-wise, no issues whatsoever. The only thing I'd caution about is there are A LOT of additional options that may make customizing a bit overwhelming. If you are truly looking to save money, don't worry about the adjustable height arms or the seat angle. The lumbar support isn't a bad investment, however isn't necessary; or noticeable for people people. Also, be cautioned the fog base gets dirty fairly quickly as you naturally tend to put your feet on it while sitting. Enjoy your SAYL!
Herman Miller began in 1923 as a manufacturer of traditional residential furniture, became a leader in "modern" furniture in the 1930s and 1940s; developed lasting ties through the 1950s with legendary industrial designers who led the company in new directions; transformed the office furniture industry with the first panel system in the 1960s; invented and refined ergonomic work seating in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s; reinvented the geometry of systems furniture in 2000, and is today the second largest office furniture company with customers and locations around the world. Their history of employee participation and ownership and technological innovation has long roots and continues to grow. They have always worked hard to be serious about both people and business. They look at their primary goal as creating great places to work.
George Nelson laid out five tenets of Herman Miller's design philosophy 50 years ago:
While fashion and style have their place, the main criterion for a Herman Miller product has remained constant: Does it truly solve a problem that people care about in a way that improves upon other solutions, or pioneers a new and better answer altogether? The answer is Yes.
