Hale Bookcases 1100 NY Series 84" H Seven Shelf Bookcase

Having had an initial 'sticker shock' reaction to the price, I nevertheless opted to go ahead and make the purchase; I have no regrets whatsoever. This firm has been in business for over six decades, as I understand it, and they are a primary source of supply to (i.e.) schools and libraries. They craft a product that is, by any measure, superior to the 'competition'. The expression "you get what you pay for..." has never been more apropos. If you are seeking a bookcase that can readily be seen...and of which you can be proud (no particle board products here...), Hale is the ultimate. With a range of support strengths and finishes, you can find something to suit your needs, but if cost is the primary decision driver..., it is likely that Hale won't fit your budget. If, on the other hand, you want to invest in something that can be used and passed on..., I'd recommend their product line without qualification. American made...still has a meaning..., and it's still a proud meaning. I am on my fifth unit, and have never looked back in regret.

I learned the hard way that the pressed fiberboard contrstructed bookshelves offered by the big oofice store chains could not support my books without bending and eventually breaking. The hardwood construction, multiple available finishes and the 84 inch height sold me. After 4 months of use, the shelves are still straight.
