    About the Manufacturer

With over 55 distribution warehouses and some 3500 retail dealers, Gardall Safe Corporation has made its presence known in the ever increasing, fiercely competitive field of safe manufacturing.

The evolution of Gardall can be traced all the way back to the 1930's when a successful Syracuse retailer named George Bloch began a safe manufacturing plant by the name of Protectall. With Bloch's sharp wit and business savy Protectall was soon doing a very respectable business. All of this fame and prosperity soon attracted the attention of a major competitive manufacturing rival Mosler Safe Company, who eventually bought the company for a sum of $1 million.

After the acquisition, Edward Mosler was appointed to head the company in Syracuse. With the help of Henry Bluestone, who ran the sales department when Bloch owned Protectall, Mosler successfully ran the company until 1949. At that time, Mr. Mosler Sr. decided to close the Syracuse plant and consolidate it into the main Mosler facility in Hamilton, Ohio.

At that point, Bluestone decided to start a safe manufacturing company of his own and named it Gardall Safe Corporation. After soliciting and eventually recieving some badly needed financial aid, Bluestone set up a crude, modest and mostly under-capitalized manufacturing plant.

During that time, Gardall was located in a building that was owned by the Falso family, also owners of Thor Metal Products. Gardall was experiencig severe cash flow problems and Bluestone was needing some help to stay alive. Bluestone approached the Falso's with an offer to purchase the controlling share of the company. He knew that with their sheet metal fabricating knowledge and ability to invest much needed liquidity into the business, he could turn Gardall into a profitable business.

Adolph and Raymond Falso accepted Bluestone's offer in 1970 and purchased Gardall Safe Corporation. Bluestone remained with the company doing what he did best, sales.

In 1978, Adolph Falso became a full-time employee of Gardall as its president. Under his leadership, Gardall continued to improve the quality of its products and introduced many offerings to the line. After almost 30 years of selling directly to dealers, Mr. Falso decided that the proper selling channel for safes was through regional distribution. In 1985 he began the process of converting his dealer business into a distribution-based business.

In 1986, Gardall was purchased by David Patton and Ed Baroody. At the time Baroody, a corporate accountant, was vice president of finance for a division of Shell Oil. Mr. Baroody assumed the role of President of Gardall.

Today Gardall Safe Corporation sells products in all fifty states and around the world. Gardall has become a recognized leader in residential, small business, and commercial grade safes. The quality and integrity established by George Bloch continue today. Modern manufacturing designs allow Gardall to continue to be recognized for it's security and functionality.

Decent safe at a good price

Dennis from New Jersey– Verified Buyer

Nicely compact size and relatively lightweight. Only difficulty is properly executing the combination, it's a bit confusing when to pass or not pass a number. Other than that it's a good safe. Easy to anchor it down to a floor or shelf.

Nice safe...but get the electronic lock

TJS from Minneapolis, MN– Verified Buyer

I first ordered the safe with just a combo lock, but it was so difficult to open, I returned it (the combination of numbers of turns in differing directions was unlike any combo lock I've ever used, I was only able to open it 2 out of every 10 tries). [...] The safe seems heavy and durable, the lock works well. You can set up to 2 different codes and change them if needed. Can be bolted down and looks like it will be a very durable safe that can be used for a long time. Currently this safe is being used by an older family member to store some medications and cash. It's perfectly sized so she can add some other small items if needed. This was the most economical safe that was available, anything else was either cheaply made or very expensive.

    great safe

safe from ny, ny– Verified Buyer

i use the safe mostly for passports, papers and other small items. it is small but large enough for my needs. it has all the features I was looking for: hole in the bottom to bolt it to the floor, fire rating, fairly compact size and easy to open electronic lock. while this might not be the safest safe on the market it is certainly the best you can get for the money and more than sufficient for the home.

    A Good Value

Ted from Memphis, TN– Verified Buyer

Bolting down this safe requires some tools and drilling into the surface the safe will be sitting on. Hardware is included, but we used our own. The safe is made so that actually bolting it down is relatively easy. The bolt hardware does not impinge on the interior space.

We might have liked even more fire protection and waterproofing, but those considerations were outweighed by space efficiency issues.

The electronic keypad is very easy to set and use.

We liked this safe enough to buy another one for a family member.

    It Fit My Space

tbq from Washington State– Verified Buyer

The main reason I got this safe was because it fit the space I had for it to a T. It is a heavy, secure unit. The only drawback is the rotary tumbler set-up. It seems finicky, requiring some jiggling around the last number to get the key to unlock it. Might be worth it to pay the xtra for the digital model. Reason I chose rotary was no need for batteries.

Great safe, good value, would buy again.

Go ND! from IN– Verified Buyer

This is a great safe. I have the manual combo. I didn't want to rely on electronics to guard my stuff. It will eventually fail. Manual will not. Would be nice to be able to set the combo...you cannot change it...but how hard is it to remember 4 numbers? Combo requires a series rotations...think highschool combo...but provided you could open your HS locker...you'll do fine with this. Inside is stark. I installed padding for protection. Included drawer is very basic and doesn't adjust. It is fairly heavy so keep that in mind. No issues so far at all with the safe. [...] Did not give this safe 5 stars because of drawer "basic-ness" and non-adjustment.

    It Works OK

    Onetrack from Dallas Area

Can accept up to two 6 digit codes. Codes can't be shorter. There is no key bypass. The batteries are on the outside so I guess at least you can replace them if they die.

I received a 4" concrete anchor. Not long enough if you're going through carpet and padding. Bought longer Red Head and it went down fine.

Seems to be pretty well made but the front electronic's and housing don't look very rugged.

    Excellent product.... Outstanding service...

D from Littleton, CO– Verified Buyer

This product appears to be top of the line in this size and price. So well built, it could be considered "over-built".

    Build quality is disappointing

    Jim from NYC

The safe came with a noticeable scratch on the front which had to be from the factory since the thing came double boxed with foam. There was sharp metal inside that I had to file off since I feared it may scratch some valuables. The plastic tray is completely warped. I wish the door hinges were beefier since they look like you can pry them with a crowbar. However, with that said, the door itself looks like it would be hard to bust open since it locks on two sides. The key and combination lock have a good feel to them. Overall, this safe is far from perfect but for the price, it should get the job done.
