This podium weighs about 45 pounds. But that weight makes it sturdy, stable, can't tip it over easily. It's all real wood oak. Directions make assembly easy and fun. It does have a carved cross but just flip the board around gives you a solid wood look. The shelf is so much better than I was expecting. This podium can hold small to large books and it would be easy to add a light and or microphone. If you are looking for a great real wood podium at a great price, this is the one for you.

we have speakers use the podium; it's narrow and so discreet but quite small and low standing. Has a cross on the front panel but it's reversible

The lectern I bought for our library is very handsome, dark stained and well made. I was surprised when putting it together, we realized the front face plate had a large cross on it. Luckily the piece of wood could be turned around so the cross is on the inside and doesn't show. It would have been nice to know it was going to come with that on it. Other than that, it's wonderful.

The only reason I didn't check durable is that I haven't had it long enough to judge. I have never had a piece that went together so easily. Usally at least one hole or screw is hard to get in the proper place. But this was a breeze. I really like the reversable front. We will be sharing this lectern with a secular building for a while and having a choice or Cross/no-cross made it a better fit to start with.
