Joint-friendly home exercise floor that doesn't look like a gym
J from Young America, MN – Verified Buyer
I used this tiling to cover my antique oak floor in one room of my house. I wanted to protect my floors from wear/tear while exercising, and also to protect my joints from concussion. The tiles are constructed like pieces of cushioned yoga mat with an impervious printed surface on top. It was easy to install (and is easy to take back up...just unzip), the tiles are light and easy to carry (unlike rubber), and doesn't leave rubber marks that mar the finished oak underneath. The faux wood appearance doesn't scream "industrial" or "gym" like most exercise floors or mattings do, so it blends with my home's traditional interior. The surface is grippy enough that I can work out barefoot without slipping, and the cushion is padded enough that I don't need a yoga mat. The matting also minimizes the squeaking and creaking of the old floor boards, a nice bonus. I awarded only 4 stars instead of 5 because I get the impression it will not wear that well if subjected to heavy use. I also suspect the tiles might unzip, or at least would be stressed along the interlocking borders, with other types of high impact exercises. It should be fine for at least several years of lower-impact exercise home use, though, and is inexpensive enough to replace as needed.
Better than I thought...

I was concerned after I ordered it thinking I over paid and that the wood would be too light in color. I was happy to see that it was thicker than I thought (better quality) and the color was slightly darker than the photo. I will be using it in my newly build sunroom to cover my deck floor. The anti-mildew and insulating features will be perfect.

Super easy to install. Cut with utility knife to customize. The wood planks don't really line up but you don't see it unless you look closely. Bought for our basement to make it into a play space for our son and a workout space for me. Happy with the purchase. Even bought a few extra as they are easy to swap out in case one gets damaged.
This will be an added bonus to any room!

I purchased these mats rather then the "usual" black or grey colored mats to brighten up and add a sense of luxury to my workout space and these mats defiantly accomplishes that. Being called "SoftWood" mats they are soft on the feet yet sturdy and strong enough not to tear from moderate weight drops (So Far). They have a unique patterning on top that allows for surface grip so you may not slip or fall. I personally would've liked the wooden pattern to be thicker on the mats rather then having the mats look like it was made of a whole bunch of tiny hardwood pieces and for that I give this product 4 stars. Other then that these mats are excellent
